When a young person drinks alcohol often, this has an impact on the young person's health and well-being. Depending on how much alcohol is taken and the physical condition of the young person, they may experience some of these short term effects of alcohol:

  • Impaired judgement

  • Unconsciousness

  • Headaches

  • Coma

  • Blackouts (no memory of what happened)

  • Slurred speech

  • Drowsiness

  • Vomiting

  • Upset stomach

  • Aggressiveness - which could lead to fighting or offending others

  • Hangover - feeling sick the next day and having difficulty concentrating
