Where to find out about Human Rights

There are many places where a young person can find out about Human Rights. They include:

School/Teachers

Young people can learn about Human Rights in school in subjects such as Citizenship and RE.

NGOs

Young people can learn about Human Rights from NGO websites or guest speakers who visit the school.

Newspapers/Magazines

These often report on Human Rights stories and help young people to learn how Human Rights have been violated.

TV

Television programmes including the news and documentaries often cover stories about Human Rights in countries throughout the world.

Internet

NGO and other websites are often dedicated to promoting Human Rights, like Amnesty International. They have information on their web pages about what Human Rights are and what needs to be done to protect them.

NIHRC - Northern Ireland Human Rights Commission

The NIHRC promotes awareness of Human Rights in Northern Ireland through education, training and research programmes. It ensures government and other public bodies protect the Human Rights of everyone in Northern Ireland.
