How sharing responsibility may help support a healthy relationship

A relationship is a connection that a person has with another person. Most people have many different relationships like with friends, family, acquaintances, teachers, employers.

Sharing responsibility in a relationship is very important as it helps to maintain a healthy relationship for the following reasons:

  • It allows the couple to speak about problems or worries in their lives which helps relieve stress/trust issues

  • It means the couple are working together and keeping a balance which will help to keep the relationship strong as one member is not doing more than the other

  • It allows the couple to share problems and to help each other by finding solutions, e.g. money worries, work issues, concerns over family or friends

  • It means that people in the relationship play their part and accept that sometimes things may not go as planned but it important not to play a 'blame game' and help each other out.
