Sexual orientation is the term used to describe what gender a person is attracted to. They could be attracted to a person of the opposite sex, they could be attracted to a person of the same sex or they could be attracted to both sexes.
If a person understands their own sexual orientation, it impacts their self-confidence as:
It gives the person a clear sense of who they are, which will give them more confidence about their sexuality and who they are.
It could sometimes make the person feel confused about telling people about their sexuality and this may cause them stress and anxiety for fear of being misunderstood.
It may cause the person to worry that they may be discriminated against because of their sexuality which will make them feel vulnerable and isolated.
It may lead to low self-esteem and lack of confidence because of the fear of not being accepted by friends or family and judged by others.
It may make the person anxious and fearful of being attacked/called names by others who do not accept them for who they are.
